2018 Annual Bowling benefiting Special Olympics Hall County
BatesCarter and Stewart, Melvin and Frost joined forces for the third consecutive year to raise money for Special Olympics of Hall County. Much fun was had by all. Our goal of $2,000 was met; double the prior year. The tutus were worn if you got a strike. At least 195 strikes were made. That's a lot of tutu modeling.
Educational Foundation Scholarship Recipient
In 2007, BatesCarter endowed a major scholarship with the Educational Foundation of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Through the endowment fund BatesCarter has provided an annual scholarship to an accounting student in the North Georgia area. The 2018 Bates Carter endowment recipient is attending Georgia College & State University.
This year The Education Foundation awarded over $91,000 in scholarships to over 50 of Georgia's best accounting students.
Through its commitment of time, talent and financial assistance, BatesCarter is proud to support the accounting profession and provide opportunities to the best and brightest students in Georgia.

Team Bates Emerges Victorious at Tacos & Trivia
Tacos & Trivia is a fundraising event benefitting the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. This event was held at Left Nut Brewing Company in Gainesville, Georgia. The Bates Carter team was able to pull off a win after going all in on the final question.
Brandon Deraney received his CPA certification!
Congratulations to Brandon on his accomplishment. Brandon joined BatesCarter as a staff accountant in 2015 after graduating with a BBA and MAcc from Georgia College.
Some bowling fun with Stewart, Melvin & Frost.
A friendly wager was made that the losing team would donate $100 to Special Olympics. Therefore Stewart, Melvin & Frost made the donation ; BatesCarter matched the donation. It was all in fun and for a good cause. Thanks to all who were able to participate.
Taking a motorcycle break.
Karen Montgomery is our resident motorcyclist. Karen and her husband, Dan, have been involved with The Christian Motorcycle Association for over 30 years. They involve themselves in local chapters everywhere they have resided. CMA has a national fundraiser once a year for evangelist purposes. 60% of the funds go to 3 partner organizations and CMA keeps 40% for evangelistic outreach within the United States. This year the fundraising goal is $5,000,000. The total raised will be announced at the National CMA rally in June.
Karen and Dan have gone on several mission trips with CMA to present motorcycles to pastors in other countries who would never be able to afford transportation to their many churches. It helps them plant churches and visit on a regular basis. The local chapter in Gainesville is called Unchained Riders and they are involved in many areas of servant type ministry.
You can often find Karen and Dan at Frazier's Harley Davidson in Buford helping with events, and helping at some of the other major motorcycle events in the area. They also go on fun rides around the area and have ridden cross country more than once.
2016 After Tax Season Barbecue
After many hours and hard work by everyone at the firm, the staff took time to unwind with a barbecue and some fun and games. Starting out the afternoon with a treasure hunt throughout the town of Gainesville and finishing with a barbecue and corn hole toss back at the office. Lots of much-needed laughter and fellowship was enjoyed by all. See them all in our photo gallery.
