Ron Bracewell speaks at Lanier Technical College on the economical forecast for 2023

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Small Business Economic & Political Forecast on January 10th at Lanier Technical College, Ramsey Conference Center. It was great to learn from our partner, Ron Bracewell about what's happening in the economy and the trends to come in the future. 

 

Our partners were proud to visit the new location of the North Georgia Community Foundation

BatesCarter's partners, Kristi Griffin and Rusty Hopkins we're thrilled to visit the new office location of the North Georgia Community Foundation. Due to the growth NGCF has experienced over the past couple of years, it was time to move to a larger office space so their team can grow as their organization does. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier moved into the former NGCF offices and will continue to provide affordable office spaces for nonprofits for the community. 

BatesCarter Participates in the GGFOA's 37th Annual Conference 

BatesCarter's Government partner, Amanda Wilkson, was proud to be a part of the GGFOA's 37th Annual Conference in Jekyll Island, October 2nd-5th, 2022. The Georgia Government Finance Officers Association (GGFOA) was established in 1985 as a non-profit organization with a mission to promote and foster excellence in governmental financial management through programs that enhance the abilities of the government finance professional. 


Scholarship Awarded to University of North Georgia Student

Bates Carter is a proud supporter of Georgia's Society of CPAs Educational Program and recently took part in giving a scholarship award to Accounting student, Madison A. Perissi who attends the University of North Georgia. The mission of the Educational Foundation of the Georgia Society of CPAs is to encourage the best and the brightest individuals in Georgia to become Certified Public Accountants.  


BatesCarter Pledges Gift for UNG Accounting Program

BatesCarter is proud to announce its continued support of the UNG and MCCB by pledging a capital gift that will provide technology, certifications, and other related student support for the accounting program. BatesCarter’s name will hang proudly outside of one of the 48-seat tiered classrooms on the 3rd floor next to the Dean’s Suite in the new Cottrell Center, to be opened in fall of 2022.

BatesCarter Supports H. Lawrence Dennis Endowment Fund

Dr. Larry Dennis “built a tradition of excellence in accounting at North Georgia.” Jim Bates and John Carter were friends with Dr. Larry Dennis and were the first firm in Gainesville to employ one of UNG's graduates .  BatesCarter is proud to support a fund in his honor and to benefit the accounting program in the Mike Cottrell School of Business at the University of North Georgia. The fund has now raised over $5,000!

Volunteering at the Medical Center Foundation Golf Tournament

The Medical Center Open is an annual golf tournament that benefits a different local charity each year. The year's beneficiary was The Hub. Staff members Martha Cartee, Colby Babb and Emily Schuebert volunteered their time. 


Resume Workshop at UNG

BatesCarter was invited to speak to the UNG chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor organization for financial information students. Randy Jessup shared tips with students to help improve their resumes. Staff members Amanda Wilkson and Courtney Camp were also able to speak to students about the workshop. Thank you to the Gamma Nu chapter for sharing the photos.


Northeast Georgia Chapter of the GSCPA Officer Installation

The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) is an established group of over 14,000 accounting professionals. The GSCPA provides continuing education, resources and advocacy for Georgia accounting professionals. Pictured below Scott Collins, Chair-Elect of the GSCPA Board of Directors and member of the Northeast Georgia chapter swears in the new officers for a 2 year term. BatesCarter Sponsors Luncheon for Habitat for Humanity

Kings Hawaiian is funding a home through Habitat for Humanity for one of their employees and started the build onsite at their facility in Oakwood, GA. BatesCarter hosted a luncheon at the site. Other team members who participated in the luncheon were Sara Ogden, Courtney Camp and Hank Sprouse.  Sara Ogden is a Board Member and Treasurer for Habitat for Humanity.

         

 


BatesCarter Sponsors 24th Annual Tennis Pro Am at Chattahoochee Country Club

 

BatesCarter sponsored the 24th Annual Tennis Pro Am fundraiser event at the Chattahoochee Country Club on October 5-7, 2017. Our own Ron Bracewell's wife, Susan, was on the winning pro doubles team.

 

 

 


BatesCarter Participates in Medical Center Foundation Open Golf Tournament

BatesCarter's Ron Bracewell, co-chair and Jesse Tipton, committee member for the event, participated in the Medical Center Foundation Golf Open on October 5th, 2017 at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Other staff members to volunteer included Martha Cartee, Courtney Camp and Sara Ogden. The golf tournament raised $262,000 for Gateway Domestic Violence Center. Ron and Jesse's team members were Trey Pinson and David Benton. Read the full Gainesville Times article here.

Geer & His Team Send Relief to Houston and Puerto Rico

As organizations across the United States come together to send relief to Houston and Puerto Rico, CPA David Geer is playing his part. As a volunteer for the North American Missions Board of the Southern Baptist convention, Geer and other logistics team members loaded two 18 wheelers with supplies for Texas flood relief. The effort is part of the Send Relief program, a disaster relief organization that partners with local organizations to provide long term assistance to effected areas. Inaugural Dempsey Dash 5k at Brenau University

BatesCarter had the priviledge of being a part of this inaugural event to honor the late Wayne Dempsey, Brenau's longtime Executive Vice President. Any proceeds from the event benefit the Wayne W. Dempsey Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for students in the College of Education or the College of Health Sciences.

 

 


BatesCarter at the 8th Annual Humane Society of Northeast Georgia's "Art with Heart"

BatesCarter’s Kerry Edwards served on the committee for the eighth annual Art with Heart fundraiser for the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia held Saturday evening, February 18, 2017, at the Chattahoochee Country Club.  This year’s event raised a record $120,000 for the care of the animals at the Humane Society until they find their forever homes.Kerry has been Active in every Art with Heart since its inception in 2010, soliciting and collecting donations, and he served on the committee for five years. Pictured is Sun the puppy who was one of a litter of puppies treated for ingesting rat poison and almost died.  He was adopted on Sunday after the event. 

 


Salvation Army Angel Tree Program

Melissa Molina is a Board Member and Treasurer for The Salvation Army in Hall County. The Angel Tree program provides new clothing or toys for children of needy families through the support of donors.  This year, BatesCarter was able to help several families with children have Christmas presents under their tree this holiday season.

 

 

 


Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Every year BatesCarter staff members take a day to ring the Salvation Army Bell at Sam's Club in Oakwood.  Staff members volunteer for hourly slots throughout the day.  Staff members pictured are Sara Ogden, Courtney Camp and Amanda Wilkson.
